Orphaned Kitten Milk Replacement by Texaswren (Whitney, Texas, USA)

"I have lost track of how many kittens have been saved by this formula. It was given to my mother, a tender-hearted soul, by the vet, many, many years ago. I put it in a family recipe book two years ago, and everyone laughed about it. However, shortly afterward, my cousin found an abandoned kitten under her house. Birta is now Queen of the Household, thanks to this formula!"

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup evaporated milk
2 Tablespoons Karo white syrup
1 beaten egg yolk
2 Tablespoons cod liver oil, baby vitamins, or kitten vitamins.

Store in refrigerator and warm up small amounts as needed.

Hummingbird Nectar by Texaswren  (Whitney, Texas, USA)

"This is helpful for those times you run out of the store bought kind, and the little hummers are hovering in front of the window, glaring at you, and dive bombing you when you go outdoors. You do not need red coloring."

1 part sugar
4 parts water

Boil briefly and stir until sugar is dissolved. Cool. Store in refrigerator.

Herbal Vinegar by libertine101 (Perth, Western Australia, Australia)

"I use lavender leaves, but you can use whatever herb that takes your fancy. Put it undiluted in a spray bottle and use it to clean tiles, bench tops, sinks, etc. It is great."

2 cups of herbs
5 cups of white vinegar
bottles or jars with tight stoppers

Heat up the vinegar. Put the herbs in one or two glass bottles or jars, pour the heated vinegar over them and leave unsealed until the vinegar it cools down. Seal the containers and leave sitting by a window where the sun shines on them. Every two days, give them a shake and leave for about two weeks. Then strain and put into a spray bottle.
