Bryndy

Lyla |
Owner-ArtisticAlias Bryndy is a pointer-pit mix. I rescued her from the shelter when she was four and a half months old. She is now three. We have been through three levels of obedience training and she can do over 30 tricks. She LOVES people and other dogs and wiggles her whole butt (not just her tail) when she meets someone new or sees someone she knows.
Before we adopted Lyla, she shared me every couple of weeks with foster dogs from the shelter I adopted her from. She is very tolerant and unselfish about her food and toys.
Lyla was the sixth dog I fostered for the Trenton Animal Shelter (and the last until I get a home of my own). She is a pointer-pit mix like Bryndy, and was between 8 and 10 months old when she came to stay with us in April, 2006. Lyla has been through one level obedience training and is currently taking behavior lessons with a different approach. Lyla and Bryndy get along beautifully together. I only hope I keep them as happy as they keep me. I am a very lucky mom.

Thelma and Louise |
Owner-1stlite Thelma and Louise were pups in a nearby town. I heard someone talking about the people who owned them were going to drown them in the freezing Yellowstone River in November 1996 as they couldn't find them homes. So, here they are. They are half Chow-Chow and half traveling salesman. They came when I needed them most. Isn't that the way it is? They have been my pals, companions and helpers ever since. They looked more like sisters when they were little.
When I divorced in 1996, I left all my lovelys with my ex. I needed some animal lovin', so I thought a cat would be good. This is a small town without an animal shelter, but at that time we had tons of feral cats. I told the kids in the neighborhood to find me a kitten or two and just pitch them in the house. Along came Crystal. They put her in my house and I didn't see her for three months. I knew she was there as the food was being eaten and the box was used. She finally came out and is still very, very shy. But not too shy, the next thing I knew I had kittens. Five of the furry monsters. Found homes for all but Thunder. She could not walk when she was a kitten as her back legs were motionless. Through playing with the others she did finally get them to working, however, she seems to have an extra joint in each back leg. The vet thinks she broke her back legs in delivery and they have healed and there is no permanent problem. Note: Thunder crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August 2007.

Sammi |
Owner-Smlwoman I wanted a pet desperately. They help keep singles company, and I really needed that. I wanted a dog, but my landlord was not too keen on a dog, and he said he would settle for a cat. I am allergic to cats. But I had been searching the humane society website for months, and since I lived in the inner-city, I thought a cat doesn't have to be walked at night. I found Sammi on the internet, went in to see her. Her hair was shaved on both sides because of matting from not being brushed. She had been given to one family, who returned her due to the teenage daughter not taking responsibility of her. Her name was Samantha. I can't stand people names on animals, so I shortened it to sammi. It just sounded more animal like. She was such a lover and very friendly. I had ten kids in my home from the neighborhood at one time, and she stayed out in the room with us, cuddling up to each person. Since I am more of a dog person, I had a bit of a hard time adjusting to some cat behaviours. Mostly, I wasn't sleeping at night. So I worked with the humane society and we found a cure and I could sleep again. I was happy because I almost had to give her up. She has this horrible habbit of knocking things off of the shelves if you are not paying attention to her, or if she wants food. And it has to be her kind of attention, none of that cuddley stay still stuff, she wants you to play with her. And if she doesn't get it, she lets you know by knocking things off the shelf that she is not happy. I have lost many figurines this way. She will also stand just so in front of the vcr, so I can't change any channels on the tv. She loves to go to the pet store with me, she rides in the front seat of the car on a leash, and in the front seat of the cart in the store. She also has a kitty stroller, that has enabled me to take her with me on walks. She loves it! She provides me with a tremendous ammount of affection and I love her dearly. She is four years old, I have had her for two years in February.

Lilith

Marissa |
Owner-Mojosmom There I was at the SPCA looking for a cat. A very sad-looking tabby was lying quietly in her cage. We took her out and sat down, she snuggled next to me, and stole my heart. It turned out that she had an upper respiratory infection, so her first several days with me involved trips to the vet, medication, and hoping that she would eat. I let out a cheer when she finally scarfed down her food. She has never looked back. From a skinny stray, she has turned into a stately grande dame, but one who is not above rolling over and presenting her tummy for rubbing. Brush her, and Lilith is your friend for life.
Marissa was also adopted from the SPCA, in January, 2006. They estimated her age at about 4 years old, but she acts more like a kitten! She likes to get into things, literally - boxes, bags, whatever. While her mom is an avid reader, Marissa prefers to chew paper, especially newsprint (which makes reading the Sunday papers a real challenge!). She's also very snuggly, and likes to sit on my lap when I'm at the computer or on the couch reading. A lively addition to the family!

Penny |
Owner-Aaahchuu I'd like to share a pic of my precious Penny. She's a 10 yo Yorkshire Terrier and a really good 7 lb watchdog! Penny enjoys cruising around town with the windows down on a nice day. She's a licker, doesn't matter what it is...armchair, shoe, etc. My little sweetie turned 11 on Valentine's Day. |

Phoebe
 Miss Jacquenetta and Mote |
Owner-Avanta7 This ball of fluff is Phoebe. She's an AKC-registered Pomeranian, now retired from my sister's breeding program. (She was a miserable failure as a show dog, but she made pretty puppies.) Phoebe is quiet for a Pom, unless company comes over; then she barks non-stop. She is always excited to see us when we come home from work: she jumps and and spins and spins and jumps until we let her out of her pen; then she wriggles and writhes and rolls over for a belly rub. She weighs four pounds and, at the time of this writing (July 2006), she is four years old.
Meet Jacquenetta and Mote! Jacquenetta is the dark gray tabby on the left. She's part Maine Coon, we think, because she's twice the size of an ordinary cat, including Mote, her ginger tabby companion on the right. She was once a mighty hunter, bringing me love offerings of assorted rodentia and feathered critters. She once brought a live blue jay into the house and dropped it at my feet. She's strictly an indoor cat these days. Miss Q weighs in at 16 pounds and as of July 2006, is 12 years old. Mote is a skittish creature and will most likely be found under the bed. His favorite game is "Chase the tail." The tail is usually his own. Mote weighs about 8 pounds and is 8 years old. |

Piper and Leo
 Murphy |
Owner-Jilbean3 The cats are Piper (female) and Leo (male), and the dog is Murphy! |

Robbie
 Mitzy |
Owner-SJR1969 Robbie, aka Bob Cat (4) likes being chased around the flat and hiding behind the sofa (don't ask!). He likes books, but prefers running around like a mad thing!
Mitzy (7) resents books as it takes all my attention from her, she glares at my bookcrossing bag when I go to meetings as she knows that I will return with yet more books.
They both sit behind me when on the computer at the bookcrossing site and I have nearly broken my neck trying to avoid killing them both. |
