The winner of this months drawing is Catwoman.  Congratulations!  I want to say that 38 Acts of Kindness were recognized this month, although 3 of them declined to be on the page.  I am proud to be part of such a generous group.

Ellymae58 Eriko1908 "Ellymae58 sent me a surprise book off my wishlist...i had sent a book to her as RABCK expecting nothing. Then months later, after a TERRIBLE day, a book showed up from her as a RABCK in my mailbox....here is a link..." -Eriko1908-
Rainbowbabe Fsr44 "I got the loveliest rabck just the other day. I joined Bookcrossing only a few months ago, and one of the first BCers to really make me feel at home was Rainbowbabe. We chatted on the forum, did a couple of trades, compared notes on books we like...you know, the usual. Then, at the end of December, I posted a thread on the forum looking for people to tell me some "good news" about turning 40. The big 4-0 was fast approaching (Dec. 28) and I was very blue about it. I got a number of lovely, funny, touching responses. The whole thread really cheered me up. Then, out of the blue, a rabck arrived from Rainbowbabe. A book entitled "Coming Into Our Fullness; On Women Turning Forty"...a lovely book of photos and interviews with 18 women who see turning 40 in a beautiful, positive light. Rainbowbabe sent a birthday card along with the book, and I couldn't have been more touched. My husband couldn't get over the thoughtfulness of my new BC friend." -Fsr44-
Ellymae58 Libertine101 "On CasualReader's Forum, someone mentioned they loved been gifted wings. Someone replied that they didn't and found the wings annoying! I commented that i'd love to have wings...and pretty soon after that...someone gifted them to me. I tried and tried to find out who it was and it wasn't until the new year that Ellymae58 owned up. I love my wings! *flutters*" -Libertine-
Alrescate Fanclub "A few months ago I posted on chit-chat about a dear friend dying unexpectedly of a heart attack. I recieved condolences from all, but Alrescate actually sent me a beautiful, thoughtful card, a gorgeous bookmark, and a book from my wishlist, completely by surprise. I was so moved by this. She also suggested that another BCer send me a "serendipity journal" to help perk me up." -Fanclub-
MaryJill Cytronella "I was so touched by this experience. It started with a forum post by Rainbowbabe, just before Christmas, telling about her son who baked and sold cookies to the neighbors so he could adopt a less well off kid for the Holiday. Rainbowbabe was quite rightly proud of her boy, and told us about it. I replied to congratulate her on actually raising her kids, because I agreed she had a right to be proud and one of the things I do as person without children is try to acknowledge good, involved-with-their-kids parents when I encounter same. In my post I mentioned how good the cookies sounded, and how I wished for some similar kid to come to my door with fresh homemade holiday goodies. What I didn't mention in my post was that my Dad passed in September of 2003, and I was partly drooling for those cookies because I was getting ready to leave my own husband alone for the holidays and drive to Florida to be with my Mom for her first holiday without my Dad. I wasn't making cookies myself, and I was leaving my dear husband with no treats, no holiday meals, and the idea of a kid coming to the door was so golden to me. Couple days go by and I get a PM from MaryJill. She writes me that she could tell I really wished for some of those cookies, and she wanted to make some to send me, if I'd send her my address. She went on to explain that she was a regular middle aged mom who has always baked, and not a weirdo trying to poison or drug us (I thought that was so cute, reassuring and yet sad that she felt the need, but that is another story . . .). I was beside myself!! I sent the address, and left for Florida. FF to 12/23, my husband tells me we got a package from someone named Jill at an address he didn't recognize. I was able to tell him to open it, because it was Christmas cookies to brighten his time alone, and to be sure and save me a couple. It really made my day, to hear how bright his voice was at such a simple treat. I feel so grateful to MaryJill, for extending herself in a way that relieved my stress for abandoning husband for Mother (surely the right thing to do in the circumstances) and that also gave my dear husband a treat. He sent me packing to my Mom knowing his own holiday would be lonely and delayed, and he was really overjoyed at this kindness from a stranger." -Cytronella-
ControlledChaos Fizzfred "When I first joined I did a bookshelf search for a couple books I was interested in. "ControlledChaos" had a copy of Peter Pan so I saved him as one of my friends. I wanted to wait to PM him after I had done some releases first but he noticed that he was listed as a friend of mine and had no idea who I was. He PMed me asking if we had met or something. I was so embarrassed but when I explained that I was not a stalker he RABCKed me the book. It was a great book too. After I finished I immediately RABCKed it to someone from her wish list. I would love to see this book RABCKed all over the place. It was a great welcome to BookCrossing. Thank you "ControlledChaos"!!!" -Fizzfred-
Kiwikat Alrescate I would like to nominate Kiwikat from New Zealand. She has knocked my socks off with her kindness. She has researched to find me information about the Maori culture, New Zealand birds and has scoured local bookstores for New Zealand authors and informational books for me. The best RABCK is she got a new copy of a New Zealand author's book and had him autograph (and personalized) for me....and never even hinted it was coming. Here is a link to the book she gave me: and the link for the journal showing my reaction when I got the book. Yep. Not only did she send me a RABCK of an autographed book but she also sent a whole scad of other books I wasn't really expecting. Thanks for the opportunity to share what a great lady Kiwikat is. -Alrescate-
Quinnsmom Mlbish "I have only been a book crosser for about a month, and already I have had so many kind people send me RABCKs!! Quinnsmom pm'ed me to offer Crimson Petal and the White (Faber) AND The Name of the Rose (Eco) as RABCK because she saw they were on my wishlist." -Mlbish-
(This is an update from Mlbish.) "I just wanted to update and tell you that when I got the books she sent, there was a third one, also from my wishlist, that was a total surprise! I was thrilled. It made my day, and inspired me to devise ways to surprise other BCers with their wishes!"
Eriko1908 Ellymae58 "My RABCK to Eriko1908 was my thank you for her sending me one! Funnily enough, I wanted a book, and on the day I finally broke down and bought it for myself, was the same day it arrived in the mail. Go figure! Here's the link. -Ellymae58-
Kbgoff Ellymae58 "Today I received a package from kbgoffe. Included was a book, "50 Ways To Pamper Yourself" and a very pretty mesh bag with some Bath & Body Works goodies inside. Kim thought I needed it after the stress of Christmas and being dumped by my boyfriend as well. Little does she know that this package arrives a couple of days after having lost my precious dog. This could not have arrived at a better time, and really cheered me up." -Ellymae58-
Note from Wren-Ellymae58 lost her precious Patch on Jan. 5. Her picture is on the TW Pets we loved and lost page.

Sparky-Redhead "I was on chit-chat, lamenting (as usual) about my problems with the male species. At some point a few weeks later, I received a package in the mail. It was from Scotland, and I certainly wasn't expecting anything. I open it, and there is a book called "Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys" amongst a Scottish fridge magnet and a map of Aberdour, Scotland. Unbeknownst to me, Fred had PMed Peter to get my mailing address (he knew we had exchanged packages) so that he could send me the book. There was also a really nice, heartwarming letter saying how befuddled Fred and Peter were that I was having trouble finding a decent man, since they both thought I was so fabulous, and that their understanding of American men had therefore gone down the tubes. I almost cried. It's the most unexpected act of kindness I've ever received, and it just confirmed what I already knew about the Scots..That they are wonderful, sweet, loving people.even if they are a bit quirky. :-) " -Sparky-Redhead-
Rainbowbabe "She asked for my address because she said she had a Christmas book she wanted to send me. When I got her package, it had a neat book about the history of pop Christmas songs, PLUS two books about teaching PLUS several neat pamphlets about events and people Anonymous knew I'd be interested in, PLUS (this is the best one) a purple crayon! Not just any purple crayon, though: it says right on it "Harold's Purple Crayon"! That was one of my childhood favorites! Okay, I'm lying - it's *still* one of my favorites! What Anonymous didn't know was that I was really struggling that week, and her package gave me such a boost. First of all, I could see how much thought went into it: Anonymous knew me well enough to include things that are very important to me - and how wonderful it felt to be seen and understood so clearly! It's always fun to get packages, but this one was very special. And the purple crayon - well, I needed a reminder of the sweetness of life. The whole package gave me this reminder and the purple crayon underlined it dramatically. Harold can fly to the moon with his, you know!" -Rainbowbabe-
BusyBusyBee Guinneth " Completely out of the blue, Busybusybee sent me a book off my wish list as a RABCK. This was shortly after I joined BC and it was a wonderful surprise. Thanks for making me feel so welcome, Busybusybee!" -Guinneth-
Anderal Realbookworm "Someone posted a question on the forum about what book or books did everyone get for Christmas. When I responded that I hadn't received any books, anderal PMed me right away and asked what my address was and he sent me the book HE got for Christmas as soon as he finished reading it. I just received it today!" -Realbookworm-
TexasWren "This person wants to remain anonymous, but was willing for me to share her kindness. After my son's house burned, she sent boxes of stuff to help them get back on their feet. Her thoughtfulness meant more than I can possibly express--to me and to my family."
-TexasWren-
Sonora Ppagano "There was a group of bookcrossers in the Announcement Forums having controversies about wings. To have them or not, who benefited from them etc.. In one of the responses Sonora gave her opinion and mentioned that, using simple logic, the traders would be the ones to use the statuses not the wild releasers. I mentioned that it may make sense if you were able to see the categories, but I had no clue what options there were except from what I had read from other people's entries. I also mentioned that at the time I still had my star and didn't need anything from the bookstore yet and with the holidays I was kind of low on funds. So I had decided to wait to check out the statuses. That's when Sonora gave me my wings! She told me to go play with the statuses and instructed me to the new version of bookcrossing to use them. I was so excited and appreciative of her kindness. Thanks again Sonora! :-) " -Ppagano-
Cestmoi Bluenoser "Cestmoi noticed Anita Shreve books were on my wishlist and offered me a couple I hadn't read. When the parcel arrived it was so big I had to go and pick it up at the post office because it wouldn't fit in my rural mailbox. Inside - six books that she thought I would enjoy! The postmaster is used to me trotting in to mail books so he just laughed and said, "Let me guess - books, right?" I offered to send something in return but all she would accept was some postcards from my trip to Europe (which almost got lost in the mail, but that's another whole story!)." -Bluenoser-
Sherria Soraidh "When Sherria was moving into her new place in the fall, she sent off a bunch of books to me (and others I think) to get them out of her place and have less to move and to get them moving. She wouldn't even take postage when I offered to reimburse her for the rather weighty shipment. I have a pile of books near my couch all from Sherria that are waiting to get read and then start some more traveling. I've already passed on a few she sent me to other BCers and I'll be sending on even more in the weeks and months to come!"
-Soraidh-
Michaeljl Bunrab "Michaeljl offered to send me a book on my wish list, out of the blue. And doesn't need it returned. It's a very expensive, very heavy, hardcover book. And in absolutely pristine condition. It cost him as much to mail it to me, as buying a new paperback book! Did I mention this is an extremely large, heavy, book? Most people's dictionaries are smaller than this book. Thanks, Michael!" -Bunrab-
Ellymae58 Martie-kr "Ellymae58 sent my eight-year-old granddaughter three extra books along with the one I accepted from the book relay for kids for her. I mentioned that she had been disappointed with the books from some recent bookboxes because all the books were too old for her, even though they were supposed to contain books for someone her age. There were also two very pretty bookmarks included. She made my granddaughter's week! I thought that was so nice of her and just wanted others to know what a wonderful individual she is."
- Martie-kr-
Kayters KarenDawn "Out of the blue a little while back, I received a message from Kayters saying that she had seen Practical Demonkeeping (Christopher Moore) on my wish list and wanted to send it to me. I was very excited as I had really wanted to read that book. No trade was necessary unless I had something from the Tudor/Elizabethan period, and I just happened to have one, so I sent that one off after a while. I was so happy to receive an offer from my wish list without asking for it - especially one of the books that I most wanted."
-Karendawn-
Greyflank Dawnmomoffour "One day Greyflank offered up some jeans on the chit chat forum, and I, being so darned broke waiting for unemployment, accepted his kind offer. I knew that 2 pairs would fit 2 of my children (Who loved them by the way!). When the package arrived, wow! That was not the only thing in there! Inside this package was 2 pairs of jeans, a comic book signed by the author (Yep...greyflank!), AND a book of Ren and Stimpy Postcards! THANK YOU! I was so happy to get all of this. I had been having a bad day, feeling that I was not providing for my family, not being a good mom etc..and this package made me smile and helped to break that bad mood. What a generous group of people bookcrossing is!" -Dawn aka dawnmomoffour-
Jawin Cytronella "This one involves someone who remembered something I casually posted in the forum (that I collected odd things shaped like Texas) and PM'd me to tell me they had something to add to that collection. The someone is Jawin, a very nice bookcrosser in Brisbane, Australia. Here is a copy of the PM:

I was cleaning out some stuff over the holiday break and found something that made me think of a thread in the forum a few weeks back. So I went looking and then I had to contact you!
I have relatives in Texas who sent me something awhile back which would fit very nicely in your collection of Texas-shaped things. Only small, so will post easily and not take up much space.
If you'd like me to send this on, let me know your snail mail address. I won't tell you what it is coz that would spoil the surprise.

She then mailed me perhaps the most traveled pair of ceramic earrings, shaped as promised like Texas (a very nice outline, too, as these things go!), which she had gotten from her relatives in Texas. These will be some kind of wonderful addition to my collection, as the most traveled Texas's (Texasi? Texas'? How do you show Texas as a plural?) and currently the smallest, as well. Plus, they have the best story, and that may never be beat! " -Cytronella-

Jendudley MsPooh "For Christmas, I got winged. I was going nuts trying to figure out who had done it. Then a couple of days after Christmas, a package came for me, Priority mail from BC. Hmm, I wondered, knowing I had not bought anything recently. In the package was a set of BookPlates, gifted to me with the set of wings by Jendudley. Made my day. Jendudley has become a wonderful friend from BC. It is people like her that make the difference." -MsPooh-
Casseytara Kayters " I just received a RABCK from Casseytara of THE LOVE LETTER by Cathleen Schine. I had it on my wish list for quite a while and it just showed up today with a nice note. What a fun surprise!" -Kayters-
SenoraG MsPooh "Back before wings had special features, there was a talk in the forums and such about how you could gift the wings to another, simply for the fun of it. Well, I was gifted a pair. I struggled to figure out who. I posted in the BC forum, in the Relay forum, all to no avail. Then one day I get an e-mail. An e-mail from Senorag, who had become one of my best reading buds at BC. As a way to thank me for all the books I had already sent to her, and the ones to come, and just because we had become such good BookBuds (as she calls us), she had gifted wings to me. I wore my wings proudly." -MsPooh-
Needmorezoloft Jendudley "I got winged. I posted to the BC forums, the relay forums, and the yahoo group, asking all of them if there was a kind soul that would 'fess up to the act. No one did. A few days later, I got a package from bookcrossing filled with labels I didn't order and a packing slip with Needmorezoloft's bcid! I was verrrry happy! Thanks NMZ!" -Jendudley-
Realbookworm TexasWren "Realbookworm sent me Bleachers from my wish list-a total surprise. After reading her journal entry, I had to wonder if it was a RABCK or a punishment. As it turned out, I enjoyed the book a lot. I'm really glad that I had the chance to read it. Thanks, RBW!" -TexasWren-
Caligula03 ALIVE "I wanted to add caligula03 to your list of RABCK roundup. After my hubands heart attack in September she sent me a pm offering to send books to my husband while he recovered. She sent quite a few books which my husband really enjoyed.I will always remember her kindness." -ALIVE-
Bronzewing Meganh "I am nominating Bronzewing for your wonderful award. She sent me a RABCK without asking and did it when I was very new to bookcrossing - thus ensuring I became addicted to this site!" -meganh-
Fanclub Libertine101 "This one is about the fabulous Bcer Fanclub. I was bemoaning the fact that I could not find Dave Barry books. I love this guys writing - He is prolific - but do you think I could get my hands on any of his books? I tried Pmming people who had some of his books on their bookshelves but they all knocked me back for a trade, for various reasons. Downhearted, I posted on my LiveJournal about this and fanclub got back to me, saying that she saw a Dave Barry book in a Good samaratins store. She sent her husband to pick it up for me and the rest is history! :) Oh, and another Dave Barry RABCK is on its way to me too!!" -Libertine101-
Bodesoda TexasWren "Bodesoda sent me a beautiful book of Light poems as a Happy New Year gift. What more lovely way to begin a New Year than with words of Light. Thank you, Bodesoda!" -TexasWren-
LFL676 Alsomama "I just received To The Nines as a bookray participant and the person before me, LFL676, included, as a gift, a copy of the Stephanie Plum holiday book, Visions of Sugar Plums. What a sweetie! It's not even registered and it looks.....gasp....like a brand new copy." -Alsomama-
Catwoman Ellymae58 "I must recognize Catwoman. I love the bookrelay site, and JDT made an offer of a book that I wanted to read. Unfortunately, I did not have a book that fit the relay category to offer in its place. I posted on the relay forum to see if anyone could help me out. No one could. JDT was nice enough to promise me the book *if* it wasn't accepted in the relay. I checked on it later, and was disappointed to find that someone had accepted the book. A bit later, I received a PM from JDT, letting me know the book had been accepted by another BookCrosser. BUT Catwoman remembered that I wanted it, and asked JDT to send the book to me instead!! I was so surprised, and am so touched by her wonderful gesture, that I want everyone to know!" -Ellymae58-
Eriko1908 Beautyredefined "I wanted to acknowledge eriko1908 for her kindness. While I'm relatively new to bookcrossing, she welcomed me and showed me the generosity of bookcrossers. As a 'next-state neighbor' she offered me a book of my choice as a shelf-warming gift, and I can always remind myself of this kindness whenever I need to feel better about people's kindness (especially after the recent nastiness in some forums). As an additional plus, there was a book I really wanted on her shelf having just read about it. When I finished, this book even attracted a friend of mine to join bookcrossing: Read about it here Thanks again Erica!" -Beautyredefined-
