Alrescate Eriko1908 "Yesterday on the Site-Watch Forum, I mentioned wanting to order bookmarks from the Supply Store so that when customers come into my workplace (basically those that I can tell would be prime candidates for "BookCrossing addiction") Ican pass along the quick piece of literature on the site. Well.....Alrescate saw that post and sent a PM my way, letting me know that she had ordered *way* too many of the bookmarks and would gladly send some my way...AND she'd be happy to include a book with them...now if that isn't generosity, I don't know what is!! Thanks Alrescate!! :o) -Eriko1908-
Fanclub Dawnmomoffour "I want to tell you about Fanclub. I received a pm from her asking for my mailing addy and was told NOT to ask...that it was a surprise. I admit it, curiousity almost got the best of me. So, there I was, thinking a book from my wish list or something like that was being sent my way. Oh, the generousity of Bookcrossers. :-) I got the package and OH MY GOD. There it was, a brand spanking new copy of the book I had mentioned that I wanted when I heard someone else in the forum talking about it! It is magnificent and I know that it cost more than I could afford! I was overwhelmed at her generousity! Then, I asked if anyone would be willing to order me a t-shirt from the BC supply store and I would pay them by paypal. Guess who offered? Yes! It was Fanclub! There was an added inconvenience! They would not let her use her credit card to mail to another country. Did it stop her? NO! She asked what I wanted to do. I picked what I hoped was the least inconvenience to her. She sent them a check. Wow! Thank you Fanclub for being a wonderful example of kindness. BC'ers amaze me and Fanclub is right there at the top of the list. " -Dawn aka dawnmomoffour-
Ellymae58 Libertine101 "What can I say about this woman? She is amazing! In January, she winged me my very first pair of wings. In February, she sent me a book off my WishList and cat book for my birthday. These came as a complete suprise! I had no idea....She did not have my address but (as I have now worked out) got it by asking another BCer to get it for her by pmming me. (Thanks Kayters for acting as the 'middleman'!). She is the epitome of the spirit of BC!" -Libertine101-
Anonymous> MissTree "Yesterday I received the sweetest message from a BookCrosser who wishes to remain anonymous. Anyway, along with the nice message, they offered me a RABCK from their shelf. They will be sending me The Tattoed Map. I know what a great, generous person they are, because, even though they prefer that their wonderful acts of kindness go unrecognized, word does tend to get around, somehow, on BC." -MissTree-
Firegirl Libertine101 "Firegirl is a fellow cat lover which I met through a LiveJournal cat community. We traded cat toys and treats via snail mail for our cats. We then became friends on LJ coz we had similiar tastes. Before long, I got her interested in BC. She joined up and it was not long before she winged me! Then, for my upcoming birthday this month, she has popped a cat book off my WishList, into the mail for me! :D I meet such gems through the internet. Firegirl is one of them." -Libertine101-
LilB MissTree " Just got a pm from LilB, offering to send me Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto; all the way from Japan! (If her profile is accurate...and she did mention surface mail..so I think it is!)
BCers are just the best, most generous people in the world! I've been offered two RABCKs in two days! I'm all verklempt!
Both of these were so out of the blue, too! I had posted on the Book Talk board because I had just heard a bit about Banana Yoshimoto and had become intrigued enough to wonder which of her books I should read first! I actually intended to hunt them down at a local library...but now I won't have to! :-D Anyway...just sharing my verklemptness and warm fuzzies! I love BC! BCers are the best!" -MissTree-
Jawin Georgie-Shaw "jawin - For 'er generosity with the 'erbs! I placed a query in the forum - hoping for assistance/suggestions from anyone who knew about keeping herbs alive. Given my abysmal track record with gardening I wanted to give my new plants a fighting chance. A couple of BCers stepped up to the plate but jawin outshone .... offering to send a book (from her own personal collection!) that covered all the areas I was clueless in. Not only did It arrive within days inside was a note offering help at anytime with my questions - of a botanical nature! Not only was the book a great help, I was touched by jawin's generosity (as was my family). BTW my herbs are thriving!" -Georgie-Shaw-
Mecca Saphyre "I would like to nominate BXer Mecca for the RABCK roundup. A couple weeks back while introducing myself to her in a conference I mentioned I had an infant son. She sent me a small box of about 6 infant outfits, all of which were in *excellent* condition. THANKS MECCA! A true act of kindness!" -Saphyre-

(Note from Wren: This act of kindness has a followup note from Mecca.)
"Yes, you may publish Saphyre's note- i am honored that she nominated me. What she didn't tell you is that she helped me by putting clothes to use that no one else around me wanted, thus helping me clear a drawer for more important things (desperately decluttering before a move in March). Plus, she plans to pass these clothes on to a friend of hers who is expecting a baby when she is through with them. So, it is she that is noteworthy, as a friend, a mother, and a reader." -Mecca-

Ellymae58 Kbgoffe "Since I have joined bookcrossing I have met many wonderful people but Ellymae58 tops the list. I feel like I have known her forever. I have two nieces who are bookcrossers. They are 14 and 11 years old. Ellymae58 is constantly finding great books for the 3 of us to read. It is so much fun to see what she finds for us next. There are so many other wonderful and amazing things that she does but her goodie box to me just blew me away. She knows it has been a rough winter for me and my family and she sent me an awesome box full of all sorts of goodies. Two books were included in there that weren’t even bookcrossing books! She just continues to touch my heart. I can not wait until I get to meet her this fall. Everyone who is touched by her generosity is blessed. Thanks for allowing me to recognize her! " -Kbgoffe-
Watchcat Libertine101 "Watchcat was a part of the Secret Valentine Card exchange and as it turned out she was MY Secret Valentine. Firstly, she had problems gettign my card out to me in time so she sent me a PM telling me to open that msg on the 14th of February. She did this in case her card did not reach me in time. She obviusly did not want me to feel badly coz I did nto get anythign from my Secret Valentine. How considerate. Well, a few days after that date, the card arrived. But it was not just a card....I was shocked and delighted to see that she had sent me: a card, a lovely cat book, and a teddy bear, all beautifully packaged with red paper and fancy ribbon! That was a lovely Birthday and Valentines day suprise!!!" -Libertine101"
Nyisutter Grover3d "Nyisutter - she is very generously running a ring of an entire series (the Beany Malone series) and I am first on the list. I've raved about the series with each book I've read (about seven now) and since she knows I love young adult literature so much, she sent along a brand new copy of a re-print of an old Rosamund duJardin book. When it turned out that I already owned a copy, she suggested passing it along to Kbgoffe who has also been enjoying the series. What a wonderful, thoughtful BCer!" -Grover3d-
Gorydetails Ppagano "I received an e-mail about a week ago from Gorydetails asking if I was still interested in a book from my wishlist. She stated that she had come by an extra copy and would like to send it to me. I have never really had any communications with her and was really surprised and excited to receive her pm. I offered to send her a book, but I didn't have anything off her wish list and she said not to worry. So I sent her my information and just yesterday I received it in the mail. It really amazes me how nice people are especially when they ask for nothing in return. I find it to be a very positive part of Bookcrossing and it makes me want to do more for others. I really Love it here!" -Ppagano-
TexasWren "I want to thank all of the wonderful BookCrossers who have prayed, vibed, and lit candles for my family the past 6 weeks. After my son's fire, my dog's cancer scare, and Johnnie's hospitalization, it makes me thankful to have friends like you. Each time, my first coherent thought was to get to the forums to ask for your help. We may not all have the same belief system, but I will always believe that when a lot of people send positive thoughts into the atmosphere, wonderful things can happen. Your support meant the world to me-most of all, it meant that I never felt alone." -TexasWren-
JennyO Watchcat "Belatedly, I wish to honor JennyO who has winged me, not once, but TWICE!! “Your wings were fading,” she said the last time, “so I got you new ones.” -Watchcat-
GreedyReader Watchcat "A great big hug to Greedyreader, who sent me a book from my personal Wish List completely out of the blue and caused much delight!" -Watchcat-
LadyBug01 Symphonicca "I wanted to submit this, in thanks to ladybug01, who noticed my wish list and my love of quilting, and PMed me out of the blue to offer a lap quilt book to me! I of course accepted, with thanks, and when the book came to me, it was accompanied by material to quilt with!! How amazing is that?? Thanks so much for your generosity and making my week!" -Lymphonicca-
MissQ Dawnmomoffour "I have yet another story of a wonderful act of kindness from a fellow bookcrosser :-) I received a package, completely unexpected, the other day from MissQ. I knew it wasn't big enough, or solid enough, to be a book and was therefore quite curious. When I opened it I was just over the moon. You see, I'd been in somewhat of a funk, what with my husband being gone. He is working out of town for 12 or more weeks. Yes, I see him for a day on the weekends, but it is the first time alone for me. This is very lonesome, and scary for me. So, I opened up the package, and I've never had a care package make me smile more, or lift my mood so fast. There was a whole bunch of goodies! Supreme hot chocolate mix, labels, stamps...the list goes on. When I went in the forums to thank her, the goodness didn't stop, nor did the humour of this wonderful BC'er!! She not only refused to accept all the credit (apparently there was at least one more person "in" on it (thank you whomever you might be)), but she laughingly told me that she couldn't tell me anything else, or she'd have to kill me. She really brightened up my day, heck, my week! Thank you MissQ, for being such a wonderful, caring friend." -Dawnmomoffour-
Realbookworm MissQ "RealBookWorm and I live in the same city but without BookCrossing we probably would never have met and likely would not have become friends. She has been kind to me from the start (sharing all her books with me, offering trades on my behalf, backing me up on the forums) but she really topped it all when she winged me! Her reason? Because someone had winged her and she didn't want to have them when I didn't. It was so sweet, I didn't know what to say or do...so this is me trying to let her know I appreciate her!" -MissQ-
BrynnSC TexasWren "Brynn was talking about kindness colins in the forum recently. I was asking her about them, and she offered to send me some. I thought she meant a couple, just as an example, but she sent me a baggy full! Brynn, I want you to know that I had a great time handing them out at the hospital. There were so many deserving people there. Thank you for introducing me to this great idea." -TexasWren-
BunRab OttawaBill Note from Wren: This is a copy of an e-mail, sent from Bill to BunRab, copied here with permission of both parties.

"I knew I would be writting to tell you today of the "release" of your wonderful gifts and so waited to let you know they had arrived so i could tell you the whole story in one sitting. Forgive me.

The scarves and blankets arrived earlier this week and since today is a day off for me I planned to distribute them last night and this morning.

The neighbourhood where I live is one of those modern times places where peole with very much are in close proximity to those with very little. There is no chance to avoid reality. The main street where I live has many restaurants and nightclubs and so it possible on a given night to see a person eating a $100 meal on one side of window and see a person who hasn't eaten all day sitting on the cold sidewalk on the other side of the window.

Our tempertaures have been very cold although recently they are warming up, which only really meas that those of with nice warm coats can walk with them unbuttoned. For those whose bd is a stretch of pavement or a heating grate, I doubt they've noticed much that their bedrooms are now only a few degerees from zero.

I wish I could have taken a picture of the woman that sat beside a local McDonalds begging for cash last night. I doubt her clothes had been washed all week and certainly she had been away from a shower for more time than I care to think. When I came out of the restaurant with a burger and hot coffee for her it hurt to see how much something so little meant to her. But if I could have captured her smile when I handed her the wondefully colorful crocheted blanket you sent, then you woul know what truly grateful looks like.

There is a homeless man that frequents my neighbourhood and he delights in calling me Pavaroti. It annoyed me at first because it reminded me that I was very overweight, but he meant it in a freindly way and the fact he recalled me everytime I passed was the only gift he had to give and he gave it freely. He has just one hand, having lost the other to frostbite and tries to make his own unpleasantness less a disgrace on the stret by keeping a small section of cleaned. For this he asks passersby for a smal donation in lieu of the tax raise it would take ot get the City to do as good a job. Now he sports your bright yellow scarf and so is all the harder, for those who cast their eyes away, to avoid seeing. he says to tell you Thank You and that should you ever visit Ottawa from Austin to drop by and say hello.

This morning the green scarf wne to a teenager/20 somethignish person (I can no longer acurately tell) with eyes full of definace and pockets empty. He was sitting outside my bank and politley thanking peole who exited the bank remarking they had no change to share. He looks like the kind of kid people suspect will spend the money on drugs or alcohol and so they feel alright saying "No". But he seemed eight years old when I gave him your scarf and his remarked "Kewl, man" had a hint of both "thanks, I need this" and "thanks, I may sell this later", but either way..his day started warmly.

I passed him on my way to a nother corner nearby where a disabled man begs for change in his wheelchair. We have had a lot of snow and city budgets have cut back on the cleaning of streets and sidewalks. I can barely drag myself to work somedays and yet never fail to feel grateful when I see him drag himself through ruts and ice patches and slush to to his dignity on display and do what he must do to survive. I gave him your green and white blanket to help keep him warm and make him a wee bit more noticable.

He sends a hug and asks if you can send some of that Texas weather up here ? We all suspect Texas of being delightfully warm these days. Of course lately we've thought of Antarctica as being warm too !

So, BunRab, I hope you forgive my being slow to let you know the parcel arrived. And I hope you feel as wonderful as you are for making so many people, so far away and unknown to you feel like the world may not be such an awful place even if it is a hard place for them. Thanks you also for letting me be an agent in your generosity." -OttawaBill-
