Note regarding measurements: Many, many years ago,
Americans were told that we would soon be changing to the metric measurement system -- just like most of the rest
of the world. As I recall, the switch was supposed to take place in the 1970s. I don't know what happened, but no conversion
occurred and we Americans still follow our own idiosyncratic system of measuring. If you want to convert American
measurements to metric (or vice versa), try using the following Web sites:
